New build vs. resale

Last updated: 2026-07-26

A new build usually isn’t part of a chain (chain-free) and comes with modern energy standards, but carries risks around construction delays and gaps between the show-home and the finished product (hence the importance of snagging — the list of defects to fix before/after handover). A resale property gives more certainty about its actual condition, but is more likely to sit in a longer chain.
