How to send money from Poland to the UK

Last updated: 2026-07-26

In short

You can move money from Poland to the UK in three main ways: a bank transfer (SWIFT), a specialist currency broker, or a fintech app — and the biggest cost is usually not the fee but the FX spread against the mid-market rate. For a house deposit, documentation matters as much as cost: your payment provider, your lender and your conveyancer will each ask about the source of funds, so prepare 3–6 months of statements (plus a gifted deposit letter and the Polish SD-Z2 filing for family gifts) before the money moves. Transferring your own, already-taxed savings does not itself create a tax bill in Poland or the UK.
